At New Heights Performing Arts, our mission is to provide affordable, high-quality performing arts education in a nurturing, inclusive, and fun environment. We believe that everyone, regardless of age, background, or ability, deserves access to the transformative power of the arts. Our goal is to inspire confidence, creativity, and community through exceptional classes led by caring and kind teachers.

Children’s Performing Arts Safeguarding Policy 2025
1. Introduction
Our performing arts school is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and young people involved in our activities. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive. This policy reflects our legal obligations and commitment to safeguarding children from harm.
2. Legal Framework
This policy is based on current legislation and guidance, including:
The Children Act 1989 and 2004
Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018
Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) 1989
Local authority safeguarding guidelines
3. Key Principles
The welfare of the child is paramount.
All children have the right to protection from harm, abuse, and neglect.
Safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone involved in our school.
Concerns will be handled sensitively and promptly.
4. Roles and Responsibilities
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Principal of the School - Tasha Whitmore
Oversees the implementation of this policy.
Acts as the primary contact for safeguarding concerns.
Liaises with external safeguarding bodies when required.
Staff and Volunteers:
Attend safeguarding training and stay informed of their responsibilities.
Report any safeguarding concerns to the DSL.
Maintain professional conduct at all times.
Parents/Guardians:
Support our safeguarding measures.
Inform us of any relevant concerns regarding their child.
5. Code of Conduct
All staff and volunteers must:
Prioritise the safety of children.
Avoid one-on-one situations with children where possible.
Use appropriate language and behavior.
Respect children’s personal boundaries and privacy.
Only engage in physical contact when necessary and appropriate.
6. Recruitment and Training
All staff and volunteers are subject to enhanced DBS checks.
Regular safeguarding training is provided to all team members.
All teachers hold relevant Performing Arts Qualifications and Insurances.
7. Reporting Concerns
Concerns about a child’s safety should be reported to the DSL immediately.
In emergencies, contact emergency services (999) first, then inform the DSL.
Accurate and confidential records of concerns will be maintained.
8. Online Safety
Ensure safe online practices during virtual activities.
Protect personal information of children and families.
Provide guidance on appropriate digital interactions.
9. Monitoring and Review
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices. Feedback from parents, staff, and children will inform updates.

Inclusion Policy
1. Introduction
Our performing arts school is committed to promoting an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported. We celebrate diversity and strive to provide equal opportunities for all, regardless of race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion, or background.
2. Legal Framework
This policy aligns with the following legislation and guidance:
The Equality Act 2010: Protects individuals from discrimination and promotes equality for all.
The Children and Families Act 2014: Outlines the rights of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities.
SEND Code of Practice (2015): Provides statutory guidance on supporting children with SEN and disabilities.

Collaborate with staff to support their child’s participation.
5. Accessibility and Reasonable Adjustments
We will assess and adapt our facilities, teaching methods, and materials to ensure accessibility.
Staff will work with parents and external specialists to create individualized plans for children with SEN or disabilities.
6. Anti-Discrimination Measures
Discriminatory behavior or language will not be tolerated.
Any incidents will be addressed promptly in line with our safeguarding and behavioral policies.

Complaints Policy – New Heights Performing Arts
At New Heights Performing Arts, we are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and high-quality environment for all students. We welcome feedback and take complaints seriously to ensure continuous improvement.
How to Make a Complaint
If you have a concern or complaint, please email us at newheightsperformingarts@gmail.com.
We aim to respond within 3–5 working days.
Urgent matters (especially involving safety or wellbeing of children) will be addressed within 24 hours.
Child Safety and Legal Compliance
We are committed to upholding all relevant child protection legislation, including:

Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2023
Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018
All complaints involving children’s welfare will be treated with the highest priority and referred to the appropriate authorities where necessary.
